Russell Brand and Katy Perry Wed in India, Nuptials Details Revealed

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are now officially man and wife. The couple tied the knot in the fully-embracing-Indian-tradition nuptials held at the luxury Aman-i-Khas resort near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan, India on Saturday, October 23, Daily Mail reported.
Russell and Katy exchanged their wedding vows in front of around 85 family and friends. According to the site, the "I Kissed a Girl" hitmaker started the ceremony with a blue sari but then went with several changing during the special day. She also applied traditional Indian bride henna designs on her hands. Meanwhile, Russell was said sporting a nude-colored traditional kurta before later changing the outfit with an embroidered coat.

Indian musicians sang and played the sitar, santoor, tabla and nagaras (Rajasthani kettle drums) for the wedding guests during the bash. As for the bride and groom, the two reportedly sat in gold wedding thrones under a mandap, a traditional wedding canopy, which had red and yellow ribbons and garlands of marigolds attached on it.

David Baddiel was among the attendees which were expected to include Jonathan Ross and his wife Jane Goldman. Rihanna, in the meantime, couldn't make it to the ceremony reportedly "due to work commitments."

Hours after Russell and Katy walked down the aisle, a rep for the couple released a statement to Us Magazine. "Russell Brand and Katy Perry are overjoyed to confirm that they were pronounced Mr. and Mrs. Brand on Saturday, October 23," the statement confirmed.

"The very private and spiritual ceremony, attended by the couples' closest family and friends was performed by a Christian minister and longtime friend of the Hudson Family," the rep went on. "The backdrop was the inspirational and majestic countryside of Northern India."
